A single incident shouldn’t undo a lifetime of accomplishments, unless we’re talking a crime or scandal. But there was nothing criminal or scandalous about Helen Thomas expressing her opinion May 27.
Before passing any judgment, people should watch the video. What she said sounds much worse taken out of context. All she did was answer a question with honesty. She didn’t respond in a hateful or anti-semitic way. Freedom of speech is something we fervently fight for in America, so is it fair to condemn Thomas for using that freedom to say something that made some people uncomfortable? No.
Admittedly, saying that the Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” could have been phrased less offensively, but people are acting like she committed an act of heresy rather than expressing her right. Americans express their discontent with the president by putting “Nobama” stickers on their cars, why can’t Thomas speak her mind about foreign issues?
Apparently free speech is only acceptable when everyone is happy with what is being said.

Apparently free speech is only acceptable when everyone is happy with what is being said. Bingo! Ain’t that the truth.. seriously. I’m not saying I agree with her, but an opinion is an opinion, and that’s all it should be taken for. End of story.
