Zimmerman acquitted on all charges

The jury in the George Zimmerman murder trial delivered a “Not Guilty” verdict on the night of July 13. Zimmerman was acquitted of the second degree murder and involuntary manslaughter charges of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Fire in basement of Manoogian

Police suspect a lightbulb blew in the African Room of the Manoogian Hall building — located near the corner of Warren Avenue and Anthony Wayne Drive — causing a minor fire on the evening of Sept. 27.

Student victim of unarmed robbery

A 26-year-old female Wayne State student reported to the Detroit Police Department that she was the victim of an unarmed robbery while walking in the area of Cass Avenue and West Forest Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 22, according to a Campuswatch e-mail sent by the Wayne State Police Department.

WSU Police identify former student

WSU Police Chief Anthony Holt confirmed Monday that Anand Deepat Tambat, a 2006 graduate of the College of Engineering, was pronounced dead at Parking Structure 2 Friday after a fall, which means he could have died on impact or en route to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Holt: 'It's pretty safe to say he jumped'

A day after a 31-year-old former Wayne State student died after an "apparent fall": from the top of Parking Structure 2, WSU Police Chief Anthony Holt said the incident is most likely a case of suicide.

VIN etching to return; other safety programs incoming

WSUPD Chief: Texting ban will be enforced 'fairly'

A statewide ban on texting while driving, which began July 1, raised some questions as to how police would enforce the new law. Wayne State University Police Department Chief Anthony Holt said it would be handled "fairly" on campus.
