Here are some excellent shows and movies to binge while sipping on some hot cocoa during the holiday season.

As the stress of finals is soon to come to an end, there is a definite need for some rest and relaxation over the winter break. This holiday season, Netflix and Hulu have brought on some great thrillers, romantic throwbacks and some Hollywood big-budget films with A-list actors such as Will Smith. Here are some excellent shows and movies to binge while sipping on some hot cocoa during the holiday vacation.

Hottest Show: Mindhunter (TV-MA): Arguably one of the most talked about releases on Netflix is this mystery drama with a delicious twist. Glee’s Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany star as two detectives in the 1970’s trying to understand the psychology behind some gruesome murderers. This show will definitely keep you up at night thinking about the constant twists and turns.

Holiday Magic: The Santa Clause (PG): The magical 1994 hit has returned to Netflix just in time for the holiday season. The classic tale features Michigan native actor Tim Allen playing the infamous Christmas figure. After accidentally killing the original Santa Claus, Tim Allen’s character Scott slowly transforms and must become the perfect Santa before the next Christmas arrives. This holiday classic will definitely be a perfect late-night viewing.

Highly Anticipated Hit: Bright (NR): Will Smith makes his Netflix movie debut in this guaranteed streaming hit. In an alternative universe where humans and mythical creatures live side-by-side since the beginning of time, two cops are assigned to get past their differences to save the world and get a long-lost relic that could destroy everything in its path.

Marvel Magic: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (PG-13): The hotly anticipated sequel of Guardians of the Galaxy has made its way to Netflix this holiday season. Watch Chris Pratt return as Peter Quill as he and his band of intergalactic misfits discover his parentage and once again, must save the galaxy from the total destruction. This is the perfect film to watch with your friends over the weekend!

Hottest Show: Marvel’s Runaways (TV-14): Six teenagers who do not know each other are facing the ultimate challenge: their parents. Continuing the tradition of Marvel television shows, this addition to the Marvel streaming collection proves to be its most diverse and exciting entry in the series yet.

Holiday Magic: The Holiday (PG-13): Everybody loves a heartwarming holiday romance! This “holiday” class is about two women who are very tired of being in the same location doing the same routine. When they switch houses for the holidays, they begin to discover amazing things, including love, in their new location. This will definitely be a great date night movie for those cold nights in.

Living in the Future: Future Man (TV-MA): Janitor-by-day and heavy gamer by night, The Hunger Games hunk Josh Hutcherson is visited by intergalactic visitors who request his help for an undeniably big mission: saving the world from the extinction of mankind. This Hulu original hit has proven to shock audiences with its jaw-dropping special effects and laugh out loud humor.
