The Detroit Jazz Festival kicked off Labor Day weekend in downtown Aug. 30 through Sept. 2.

Wayne State faculty and students were featured throughout the festival.

The Jazz Studies' Big Band performed at the Carhartt Amphitheater Stage Aug. 31 and WSU faculty member, Rick Margitza performed at the Absopure Water Front Stage.

Other faculty such as Rob Pipho Quintet and Ron Kischuk were featured Sept. 1 and Sept. 2, according to WSU's department of music's website.
