Citizens for a Pro-Life Society organized 225 protests demanding to defund Planned Parenthood all over the United States on Feb. 11.

“We want to send a message that it is time to defund Planned Parenthood. So long as this is an organization that destroys the lives of unborn children, we want no federal money [used to support] this organization,” said Monica Migliornio Miller, the director of CFPLS.

Miller said defunding Planned Parenthood is a matter of civil rights and the rights of the innocent children are at stake.

“Abortion is an injustice,” she said.

The protest—and every protest in Michigan—was countered with another protest of hundreds of people to defend Planned Parenthood.

“In Michigan, federal funding makes up 40 percent of Planned Parenthood’s funding,” Brittany Delinger, a co-organizer of the counter protest, said. “That’s a significant chunk, so if they don’t have that they’re going to have to operate on a greatly reduced scale.”
